75 Long Distance Relationship Captions for Instagram (Short, Sweet, and Not Cheesy)
LDR Activities · September 16, 2026

You've got the photo. The airport hug, the split-screen selfie, the two coffee cups in two time zones. Now you need the caption, and everything you've found is either a Hallmark card or a quote that 40,000 other people have already posted.
So we wrote our own. Every caption below is original, and you're welcome to use any of them. They're grouped by the kind of photo you're posting. (If you're after longer quotes, we've got 25+ long distance relationship quotes too.)

- Finally in the same time zone, and I'm not wasting a second of it.
- Distance: 0 km. Mood: unbearable.
- Missed you so much I forgot how to stand normally in this photo.
- This is what "soon" looks like.

- My partner is a full-time pixel. Doing great.
- Couples who fall asleep on video calls together stay together. Probably.

Captions for the hard days
- Not every day is a countdown. Some days are just long.
- Miss you more than the photo lets on.
- Some nights the distance wins. Tomorrow we do.
- Loving you from here is hard. Not loving you would be harder.
- The miles are heavy today. Carrying them anyway.
- Distance isn't the enemy. Silence is. So: hi.
- Missing you is proof it's real.
Captions for the "why we do this" posts
- We picked the hard version because it's the right version.
- Distance taught us how to talk. Everything else got easier.
- Not a long distance relationship. Just a relationship, currently long distance.
- If you can love someone from here, imagine what you can do from there.
- Making distance our asset. It's working.
A few tips for the post itself
- Short beats clever. Two lines max. The photo is the point.
- Add the number. "Day 63" or "4,000 miles" gives the caption a fact, and facts hit harder than adjectives.
- Keep the sad ones honest. Don't perform devastation; a plain "missing you today" reads better than a paragraph.
- Post the countdown. People love following a countdown, and it keeps you accountable to the visit.
And if the posts have become the most exciting part of the relationship, that's a sign the calls need a plan. Our guide to keeping a long distance relationship exciting is where we'd start.
